SureCell Sub base selected for St Peters Church, Battersea.

Since it's introduction in 2013, SureSet have been providing our own recycled alternative to the more commonly used asphalt and concrete sub-bases. Our SureCell system is a cellular grid construction made from recycled plastic forming an interlocking, honeycomb structure that can be laid directly over compacted stone, infilled with gravel and compacted.

SureCell is perfect for smaller domestic driveways and installations as it can often work out cheaper and easier to install than its more traditional sub-base alternatives. It is a fully permeable product that complies with all SuDS (sustainable urban drainage system) requirements and offers very high load bearing properties with a compressive strength of 400t/m².

SureCell is also a popular choice for roof gardens, courtyards, patios and most domestic uses as it is clean, quick to install, doesn’t require any heavy machinery and there is no curing time, so disruption is kept to an absolute minimum.

With the ability to purchase SureCell TradePacks from our online shop it is also the perfect option for installing yourself, with no specialist equipment or expertise required and easy to follow instructions.

SureCell was recently used on a commercial new build project at St Peters Church in the Battersea SW11 area of London.

SureSet were first contacted in February 2017 by the main contractor Thornsett South London Ltd with the tender information for the Resin bound paving requirements and a sample request of the products specified. We were then asked to quote for Supply and Lay and Supply Only to give them the option to install the products themselves.

It wasn’t until April 2018 that the project was nearing completion and preparations were starting on the external paving areas of the project. The order was placed towards the end of April, and in May we were asked to re-quote to include the supply and installation of our SureCell system as well as the SureSet. This was duly accepted, and the installation completed in June 2018 using our Barley Butter and Bronze natural aggregates. The two contrasting colours served as a visual divide between the ramps and walkways and the open courtyard area in the middle of the building. Another feature that sets this installation apart from others is the addition of our Steprise boards which would match the step treads and surrounding resin bound surfaces.

As you will see from the pictures, with the restricted access, overhanging ledges and narrow walkways associated with this installation the SureCell sub base offered the customer a solid, stable and SuDS compliant base without the logistical issues associated with installing a tarmac or concrete sub base, and as it was installed by our own installation team the full SureCell and SureSet system will be covered by our 21 year SureSet materials guarantee.
