Embracing Brew Monday 2024: A Day of Connection and Support
We've got some news to share that's sure to brighten your Monday blues. The SureSet directors have generously given all staff the green light to take part in Blue 'brew' Monday this coming January 15th. How fantastic is that?
“SureSet Resin Systems staff will be actively participating in the upcoming Blue 'Brew' Monday as part of Januarys Mindfulness Month. The Directors have kindly approved a half-hour break for all office and warehouse personnel to gather in the meeting room for a relaxing brew and chat. For our remote working members that day, this offers them an opportunity to step away from screens, enjoy a cuppa for half an hour, and either catch up with a friend or spend time in the garden.”

What is Brew Monday?
So, what's the scoop on Brew Monday, you ask? Well, it's an annual initiative in the United Kingdom that encourages us to connect over a cuppa – be it tea or coffee. The idea is to combat loneliness and provide a little extra emotional support, especially during the chilly winter months when isolation tends to rear its head. Brew Monday 2024 is all about promoting social connections and mental well-being, encouraging us to take a break, share a warm beverage with our friends or colleagues, and have some meaningful conversations to lift our spirits.
History of Blue Monday
But let's take a step back and delve into the history of Blue Monday. Back in 2005, it was introduced as part of a marketing campaign for a travel company. The formula used to calculate this so-called "saddest day of the year" takes into account factors like weather, debt, time since Christmas, and the duration since we gave up on our New Year's resolutions. While the scientific validity of Blue Monday may be up for debate, one thing is clear – it has brought increased awareness to mental health issues and the importance of supporting those who might be going through a tough time.
Five Ways on How to Cope with Blue Monday 2024?
Now, let's talk about how we can make the most of Brew Monday 2024. Coping with Blue Monday and managing those feelings of sadness or blues requires a bit of self-care and support. Here are five tips for warm and caring strategies to help you navigate the day:
- Reach Out: Connect with friends, family, or a mental health professional to share your feelings and seek support.
- Practice Self-Care: Engage in activities that promote well-being, such as exercise, meditation, or indulging in hobbies you enjoy.
- Set Realistic Goals: Break tasks into manageable steps to reduce feelings of being overwhelmed and take things one step at a time.
- Acknowledge Emotions: Remember, it's absolutely okay to feel a little down. Take a moment to identify and challenge any negative thought patterns.
- Limit Stressors: Reduce exposure to stressors where you can and prioritise a bit more self-compassion.
So, at SureSet we are looking forward to making Brew Monday a day filled with warmth, connection, and support. Whether we’re in the office or at home, taking that half-hour break, to enjoy a brew, and lift each other up. After all, a little kindness can go a long way.
