Urban Pedestrian Regeneration Scheme (Phase Two) in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.
Project Overview
In response to the growing need for urban pedestrian regeneration in Trowbridge, a comprehensive second phase project was initiated to revitalise public pedestrian pathways and tree pit areas. The project involved the installation of SureSet resin bound paving, enhancing both the functionality and aesthetics of the urban environment. Managed by Milestone Infrastructure in collaboration with Wiltshire Council, this initiative aimed to rejuvenate the pedestrian landscape of Trowbridge, making it safer and more visually appealing.
Project Details
The project covered an area of 460m², focusing on revitalising pedestrian pathways within the urban landscape. A tarmac base was carefully prepared following our specification advice to ensure a stable foundation for the SureSet resin bound paving installation.
The footpaths featured 455m² of SureSet resin bound paving with a 6mm Barley Butter aggregate applied at an 18mm depth. Additionally, 5m² of SureSet resin bound paving with the same aggregate, but at a 30mm depth, was used for the tree pit areas. The natural aggregate materials for this project were supplied by Long Rake Spar, a trusted supplier for which SureSet is a stockist.
The installation combined hand and mechanical techniques, adhering to the highest quality standards and project specifications to ensure durability and visual appeal.
Commissioned by Milestone Infrastructure on behalf of Wiltshire Council, the project focused on improving the pedestrian experience in Trowbridge. The successful execution was achieved through close collaboration between the client and our project management team, ensuring seamless project delivery from planning to completion.
Challenges and Solutions
Careful consideration was given to the selection of materials to ensure both durability and aesthetic appeal. SureSet resin bound paving was chosen for its exceptional quality, versatility, and compliance with SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) requirements in urban environments.
Precise installation within designated areas, particularly in tree pit locations, required meticulous planning and execution to achieve a seamless finish. Special attention was given to depth and aggregate selection to meet the differing requirements of footpaths and tree pits.
Effective coordination between the client and SureSet’s project team was crucial for streamlining project timelines and ensuring successful delivery within stipulated deadlines.
Results
The completion of the second phase of the Trowbridge pedestrian regeneration scheme marked a significant milestone in enhancing the town’s infrastructure and pedestrian experience. The SureSet resin bound paving installation not only improved the functionality and safety of the footpaths but also added significant aesthetic value to the urban landscape. The collaborative effort between Milestone Infrastructure and SureSet Resin highlighted the successful execution of a large-scale urban revitalisation project.
