The New Inn

Located in the heart of the beautiful village of Cerne Abbas is the charming New Inn – the perfect place from which to explore the beauty of West Dorset with its stunning countryside and beautiful beaches.

Having run this delightful 16th century, former coaching inn for three successful years, licensee’s Jeremy and Vanessa Lee closed its doors in 2011 for a total refurbishment.

Funded by the owners of the New Inn, Palmers Brewery, the refurbishment project included external areas that required a permeable, accessible finish that would fit in aesthetically with this wonderful building.

Palmers architect, Architectural Services and Interior Designers, JMDA specified SureSet for the external works because, having used SureSet previously, they were aware of its excellent longevity and that it will remain as good looking as the day it was laid for many years to come.

SureSet was installed to the area outside the stable block, which was converted into en-suite accommodation and car park; creating an accessible surface and eliminating the inconvenience of loose stone and puddles.

Our Installers expertly laid 246m² of 6mm Maple from our range of Natural Aggregate in both areas – bringing to the New Inn our unique discipline of combining attractiveness and creativity with practicality and sustainability.

The great care taken by JMDA in retaining the original features and character during the project has contributed to the continued success of the New Inn since it reopened in 2012.

The sympathetically refurbished pub now has a character bar, two dining rooms and 12 luxurious, well-equipped guest rooms, split between the main building and the converted stable-block.

“We have a long relationship of working with Palmers Brewery and lots of experience working with listed buildings. One of the challenges with this is finding materials that seamlessly blend in and quietly enhance the beauty of the building. We specified SureSet because it fitted in perfectly with the natural appearance we were creating throughout the whole development.”
Jonathon Morgan, JMDA
