We like to support charities that really mean something to our staff, suppliers or customers. Our latest fearless fundraiser, Matt, is doing a skydive on Sunday (July 24).
Matt is skydiving to raise funds for a friends’ charity – Louie’s S.M.I.L.E.S – Sharing Memories in Louie’s Everlasting Smile.
This small, but brilliant charity was set up by Lance Coldwell whose son Louie, who had a rare form of cancer called a neuroendocrine tumour, sadly passed away aged just eight and a half. Matt said:
“My family have known this family for a long time and I just want to do my bit to help out this amazing charity. To be honest – I’m petrified!”
During Louie’s lengthy hospital stays the family found out that while some children receiving treatment were ‘rewarded’ with a small toy for being brave, other children in wards that received less funding, were not. These wards relied on donations of either toys or the means to buy them.
Knowing how important these little gifts were to the children, Louie’s family set up a non-profit charity called Louie’s S.M.I.L.E.S to help change the situation.
To make sure there are enough for every child receiving treatment, Louie’s S.M.I.L.E.S raises funds to buy toys and books to deliver to local children’s wards.
You can support Matt and this fantastic charity by donating via Justgiving. All donations go directly to Louie’s S.M.I.L.E.S and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.
