SureSet Permeable Paving has a long and successful history of installing top quality paving to some of the country’s most iconic and popular sporting grounds and public attractions. Some of these include Butlins, Cheltenham Racecourse, Chessington world of adventure and the Jubilee Outdoor Lido in Penzance.
With the football world cup taking place this summer in Russia it only seems right we concentrate on a few of our most outstanding and popular installations that relate to the nations favourite game.
Firstly, we have our installation completed at the Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.
Construction of the 48,000 capacity stadium commenced in December 1999 and was originally called the City of Manchester Stadium, however, in July 2011 the stadium was renamed the Etihad Stadium as part of a deal when the club signed a ten-year agreement with the new kit sponsor Etihad Airways. The Stadium was completed in 2003 and on May 11th Manchester City played their last game at their old stadium Maine Road, which had been their home for the past 80 years and made the move into the new state of the art facility.
SureSet were contacted in 2013 to complete renovation works on the tired concrete areas outside the Colin Bell stand. The works included installing our Sterling Natural Aggregate to the vehicular trafficked area, and a contrasting Sky Blue recycled glass from our Spectrum range for the pedestrian area. The stand out feature, however, was the 2 metre by 2.5 metre club logo which we created and installed using our custom coloured Spectrum recycled glass, MDF stencils and lots of patience from our experienced site installation team.
The club was so happy with the results that SureSet were then contracted to complete the second area at the stadium and another identical logo. The second installation included the famous lyrics Manchester City fans adopted from the song ‘Blue Moon’. The lyrics ‘Blue Moon, you saw me standing alone’ were created using our Spectrum products, and in each letter, small circular discs were pressed into the surface, each disc was sponsored by a fan of the club and personalised with either their name or the name of a loved one. The results were quite spectacular, it shows a true sign of dedication and passion displayed by fans to want their name immortalised in the grounds of their beloved club.

Another football related project was completed in 2017 by SureSet Approved Installer Gibson Gardens. The well known Arsenal and German international superstar Mesut Ozil had been linked with possible club moves as his contract was due to end at the London based Arsenal club, but when the press discovered Ozil had recently had his driveway resurfaced with SureSet the speculation that he may be extending his contract at Arsenal grew.
Images of the breathtaking North London home have been a huge selling point for customers and Approved installers alike ever since, and the quality of product and installation speaks for themselves.
